Meet The Crew

Dan Broad

Producer, Recording Engineer, Composer, Session Musician

Dan is a multi-instrumentalist; Guitar, Bass and Keyboards and am also a specialist in the area’s of Midi programming and sequencing, with 30 years professional experience in the music business. He began his career at 16 playing in bands and working at Virgin Records Manor Studios in Oxfordshire.

After studying Popular Music and Recording at Salford University, Dan worked in the field of dance music production and writing with release credits on labels including Moving Shadow, Hed Kandi, Sony/ BMG, Freestyle and King Street Sounds.

In 2000 he set up Studio B at Moolah Rouge Studios in Stockport and gained major label album credits with Happy Mondays, Badly Drawn Boy, I Am Kloot, Freebase (Peter Hook, Mani, Andy Rourke), Cherry Ghost and Doves.

Dan has also recorded, mixed and mastered hundreds of demos at both an unsigned, independent and major label artist development level. He currently works as a specialist music production lecturer at Leeds Conservatoire and also provides mentoring and advice on a music business course.

Phil Denton

Mixing & Mastering Engineer, Producer, Sound Designer

Phil has been an active producer on the Manchester dance scene since 2011. During this time he has honed his skills in sound design, synthesis, mixing and mastering. In 2019 he graduated with a Distinction in Audio Engineering & Production from one of the best creative education institutions in Manchester, Futureworks. 

He was awarded the Best Student on Diploma for Audio award due to his professional approach and meticulous attention to detail. Phil been operating as a Full Time mixing and mastering engineer at ZNLMastering.com ever since, helping a plethora of artists and labels develop their sound and take their art to the wider world. 

Adjacent to this Phil had been teaching Ableton Live since 2016 at decloakmusic.com, where he also provides tuition for Elektron hardware devices, and now serves as the in-house mixing & mastering engineer for Habitat Studio. Phil is also a talented producer and sound designer and runs ZonalAudio.com which provides inspirational sound packs for a variety genres.

Mark Winterburn

Producer, Recording & Mixing Engineer

Mark has over a decade of studio experience working with some of the highest profile artists and producers in the world. Along the way he has developed a production style based around a relaxed, creative environment that enables people to express themselves without becoming diluted or contrived, secure in the knowledge they can trust him to reveal the true sound and character of the music he is working on. 

Mark is not afraid to push artists into areas that they wouldn’t otherwise explore and always aim to make recording an unforgettable experience. This enables artists to come out of sessions with the most unique music possible that can’t be ignored by playlists, labels and management, all whilst retaining the true, natural sound of the music as it was intended. Some of Marks Achievements include; Engineering/mixing on a critically acclaimed UK number 1/Mercury Prize nominated album for Plan B, nomination for Engineer of the Year in the 2013 Pro Sound Awards, working with 5 Seconds Of Summer on their iHeart Radio Best Single awarded track ‘Girls Talk Boys’ and a UMA nomination for Best Produced EP.

Sam Keene

Session Drummer, Producer, Recording Engineer

Sam started his career from a young age playing in bands as a Drummer and attended BIMM Manchester, during this time Sam has worked alongside a number of very experienced producers and engineers developing his skills.

Sam is very passionate and has a good Knowledge of Pro Tools and has engineered and produced work for many artists across Manchester.

Sam has extensive studio experience as a Drummer and Producer at  the Edge Recording Studios, Castle Rock Studios, Airtight Studios, BluePrint Studios and SSR and has performed live across the UK since 2015 at venues such as the O2 Liverpool, Manchester Academy, Hope and Anchor London, Etihad Stadium, Nice and Sleazy Glsagow and has reached the Finals of Live and Unsigned.
